Lopez Camp Trip 2014

The last week in May the Lopez family went (well the ones that can tolerate camping) on their annual camping trip in Hocking Hills. We were able to go for 4 days instead of the usual 3 and it was more enjoyable for sure! We were able to caravan with the motorcycles in front and I drove our car full of gear and Tommy and Anna drove their van with their stuff and mom and dad's gear. We also were able to arrive early to the campsite to enjoy the most we could of our first day!

my go to camping style! no one can tell if your hair is greasy! :)

Lounging after setting up camp!

Clockwise from the left - Josiah, Tommy & Anna, Kevin & Tania, Mom & Dad.

Happy Campers!

First campfire for dinner!

Handsome silly husband!

Rocky the raccoon as Dad affectionately called him. They came right up to us while we were at the campfire. It was a little creepy

That's my dad! For as long as I can remember dad's socks were as high as possible and he was surrounded with books and taking notes. Camping doesn't stop him either hence his trusty head lamp!
The next day we went to Conkles Hollow Trail. Kevin and Josiah did the Gorge trail and the rest of us went to see the cave and waterfall.

Dad is super excited about more walking after Katrina a couple days before tuckered him out

The one rock is supposed to look like a horse but Tommy said it was a buffalo and I thought it looked like a beaver....

Water kept dropping on us as we trekked deeper into the cave
This was a cool green beetle I found along the path!

Ah yes camping isnt complete unless you can sit next to the campfire and read on your tablet....
more to come in another post!

Spring- Home Improvement

Dear "joyful orange" paint, thank you for bringing a little sunshine to my kitchen and for covering in one coat! Dear ugly cow print wallpaper, goodbye forever. I dreaded every nasty, stubborn, strip of your demise but I am now over it! Dear Kevin, thank you for letting me experiment with colors and new house projects even when my ideas become your reality. Dear mothers day cards still sitting on my desk, why cant you make your way to my mailbox already!

What projects have you worked on/dreamed about so far this spring?

Kevin is 33!

This weekend Kevin and I took a long weekend trip to Cincinnati to celebrate his birthday! We have been there quite  a few times so it was hard to find things we had not done already but Kevin found quite a few treasures...

We visited a park that had a community tree house. Someone wrote it was like being in the Ewok village...I did not agree but it was cute.

We had some fun!

He is aging well I think...:)

Next we went to a park along the Ohio River. It was the best weather and there were lots of people enjoying the day.

Pretty willow tree.

We sat at the lake and I wish the whole time that we had some bread to feed them. They would swim up close and then when we didnt feed them they went on to the next crowd.

This is the view along the river. It was such a great view and all the trees had white blooms!

Looks like the tower of a castle but I have no clue what it is.
For lunch we went to Rookwood which was in an old pottery building. It was very fresh yummy food. Kevin got a club sandwich and I got a fish sandwich.
Kevin was happy we got a pitcher of water to ourselves since I "made" him sit outside on the patio instead of inside. ha ha Im making a funny face!

He wasn't too mad at me :)

After lunch we went to admire the view right outside the restaurant.
We came home from Cincinnati on Easter Sunday late in the afternoon. We went see Divergent and we liked it. Then we went home and sat on our patio to put together the end tables we got from Ikea while in Cincinnati. Then Josiah came over and we had dinner together.

Kevin has been pretty excited to take his maiden flight with his RC plane but it has been too windy. Today he thought he would give it a try so we went to the school across the street and took it for a spin...

The videos are not loading on here so I will post them to facebook.

Happy Birthday my love! I hope you enjoyed your weekend! :)
