Christmas 2010 Part 3- The Felger Family

Kevin and I hosted Christmas this year for the Felgers! We all had an amazing time with everyone, we had amazing food, played games, and did a white elephant gift exchange!
I made a Turkey, black beans, and rice. Dad and Rena brought honeybaked ham and cheesy potatoes, Leah and Bill brought chicken tortilla soup, cookies, and mac and cheese. Oh so yummy!

Christmas 2010 Part 1- Lopez Family

What an amazing weekend! It was a blessing spending so much time with loved ones and celebrating the birth of Jesus!

On Friday we went to Mom and Dad Lopezs' house at about 1pm. I helped Kat in the kitchen and it was fun talking while we were busy at work. Kari came home from last min shopping and cleaned the house and Josiah cleaned the bathrooms and took the garbage. Dad and Kevin and Judah watched a StarWars marathon on t.v.

In the Kitchen us girls were attempting to make Flan and it was ridiculous! I was in charge of caramel and it took me burning sugar 3 times! 1st time recipe called for a sugar and water mixture that you simmered until it turned brown... well it didn't turn brown i just made the sugar water sugar again. Then we thought a metal pan instead of teflon and do sugar by itself well that was working until my rigorous stirring ceased and i pulled out the plastic spoon an only half of it was left...yeah it melted into the caramel.... last time i used a metal bowl and metal spoon and it finally worked out. mind you each time the burned sugar would solidify and be nearly impossible to come off the pan. No wonder Abuela used an old tin can!!!!! Kari and Kat had to figure out how to make the custard without a few key ingredients and managed to pull it off wonderfully bc it was delicious! I cant believe I didn't get a picture of it!

love the ambiance
Getting ready to eat!

mmmm! Puerco Lechon along with frijoles negros, platanos, yuca, pan de cubano, and pico de gallo and it was so delicioso! We also got to wash it down with Iron Beer!!!!
